natalie chanin- alabama studio style

a few weeks back a spent a lovely sunday afternoon stitching with with my friend melanie falick. we have both been working on beaded skirts from natalie chanin's stitch book and needed a little motivation and company to finish. for those of you who aren't familiar with her work melanie is an incredibly talented editor with her own imprint at stc books. natalie is the designer and founder of first, project alabama and now alabama chanin. her work is all hand done in limited editions by a bunch of talented people in alabama and use both new organic and recycled materials. she was a finalist this year for the cfda awards.

this is what the skirt looks like when finished.

natalie gives classes at her studio in alabama as well as across the country. melanie was lucky enough to take one of the weekend classes in alabama and made this beautiful dress.

here are some of the lovely pieces from studio style- I want to make them both!!

beautiful details

this chair is designed by natalie as well and sits in melanie's office, love the colors- don't you?
