Sometimes there are people that I have been meaning to write about for ages and somehow never get to. Melissa Halvorson is one of those, perhaps the freezing cold weather here reminded me how much I love her work and nudged me to finally get to it. I first met her at the Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck several years ago and fell in love with her knitted corset. Even better after talking for bit I discovered she was a neighbor.
I thought about knitting the corset myself but know myself well enough that I am not that kind of knitter, and was more then happy to have her make it for me.
Melissa made it for me in a lovely charcoal gray and it is one of my favorite ways to dress up a simple tee.
Melissa sells her designs and patterns from her Etsy shop- Year Of The Goat- Allowing you to either make them yourself or if you don't knit (or don't want to) have her make them for you.
She is also the co-author of Handmade Underground Knitwear, A great collection of knitting patterns
I've been thinking that these Leg O' Mutton gloves would be a perfect plane project on my way to the ALT Summit.
This lace dress and hood are just a few of the pieces were part of a recent show Melissa had of new work in Hudson NY at the David Dew Bruner Gallery.
I'm coveting this hood!!
